Isaac Greener

Isaac Greener is a Melbourne based visual artist whose work includes video installation, photography and sculpture. Isaac has completed a PhD in Fine Art with Monash University.

Greener’s practice explores the notion of a movement existing between human and other worldly forces and its potential to lead to a creative outcome. Greener hypothesis, that one can enter such a movement through the act of deep listening to the land while walking out in nature. However, he also questions that irrespective of whether such a movement can exist, it can easily be confused with one’s thoughts and intent. A process where walking and the making of art in the natural environment no longer becomes an act of deep listening, but rather an intervention into the landscape.

Since 2005, Greener has combined his sculptural practice with video, installation and performance. He has experienced a number of notable successes with his work, including commissioned large-scale sculpture projects. He has twice exhibited as a finalist (and award winner) in the Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture and has been selected as a finalist for the McClelland Sculpture Survey.
